Dear Gauteng Schools Water Polo Parents, Players, Coaches, Officials and Community
Following the conclusion of the recent Gauteng Schools’ Water Polo (“GSWP”) Winter Training Programme please kindly find herewith the announcement of the 2022 GSWP Inter Provincial Tournament (“IPT”) Player Training Squads as well as important information in this regard. Kindly ensure that you take careful note of the content of this e-mail please.
The 2022 GSWP Player IPT Training Programme will run from 1 September 2022 until the commencement of the actual 2022 SWPSA IPT Tournament taking place in Durban from 10 to 14 December 2022. Training during this period will include more than one training session per week. It is however understood that Players may have other school commitments (sporting and otherwise) during this period, which may impact on attendance of training sessions. Training sessions arranged may also vary with regard to times, days and venues used so please kindly take note of notifications in this regard. The Age Group Coaches will be responsible for communicating with the Age Group in this regard – an updated list of the 2022 GSWP Age Group Training Squad Programme Coaches Allocations (including the Age Group Head Coaches) is attached for your information.
NB* The Total Cost Per Player during the 2022 GSWP Player IPT Training Programme (i.e. September to December 2022) will be R675 (Six Hundred and Seventy Five Rand). Total Payment in this regard will be required to be made in advance directly into the GSWP Bank Account – the account details are detailed below. This requirement is irrespective of how many Training Sessions Players actually attend, for whatever reason.

NB* Kindly forward Proof of Payment in this regard ASAP directly to Richard Irvine on richard.irvine@standardbank.co.za for reconciliation purposes. Kindly note that players will unfortunately be excluded from the GSWP IPT Training Squads should payment not be been received in full.
Age Group Coaches will monitor Player Attendance at the above training sessions and an Attendance Register will be kept. Kindly remember to excuse your Son/Daughter if he/she is unable to attend the sessions, otherwise non-arrival will be marked-down as Absent.
The GSWP IPT Squad Training Program will be of great benefit to those participating, assisting with the Development of the actual Players, their School Water Polo Teams, and ultimately our GSWP Teams that will participate in the South African Schools Water Polo IPT which takes place in December.
Players are reminded that scheduled training sessions will take place irrespective of Weather Conditions, unless otherwise notified by the Age Group Coaches. Where the Weather Conditions preclude a Water-Session taking place, this will be replaced with a Land/Gym Session. Players are therefore requested to at all times bring with them both their Swimming Gear as well as appropriate Land/Gym Training Gear (including closed footwear/trainers please). Thank you.
The FINAL GSWP IPT Teams (i.e. “A” and “B” Teams that will play in the 2022 Schools Water Polo South Africa Tournament in Durban in December) will be selected from the above 2022 GSWP IPT Player Training Squads. The announcement of the GSWP IPT TEAMS plus the Squad Reserves (as applicable) will be made by no later than Wednesday, 26 October 2022.
The FINAL GSWP IPT Age Group TEAM Coaches and Managers will be announced by the GSWP Executive Committee by no later than Monday, 17 October 2022.

The 2022 SA Schools Tournament will take place in Durban as follows –

Commences on: Saturday, 10 December 2022 (administration, registration, photographs, etc.)
Ends on: Wednesday, 14 December 2022 (late afternoon)
Duration: 5 Days, 4 Nights
• IPT Costs –
The GSWP Executive is in the process of finalising the costs of attending the IPT in Durban. A separate email will be sent to the GSWP Parents and Players by latest Wednesday, 14 September 2022 informing you of the anticipated 2022 IPT Cost Per Player as well as the deadline for payment of the IPT Tour Cost.
